Left-wing demonstration for arrested student Lina E in Leipzig, June 2021
In support of 26 year old student Lina E, left-wing and far-left activists held a protest in the city of Leipzig. Lina was arrested in November and accused of attacking far-right individuals as well as being the leader of a left-wing extremist group. Her supporters doubt the evidence presented.
Although the march in the afternoon was peaceful, clashes and vandalism of banks and cars were reported in the night.
Lina's trial began on Wednesday 8th September in Dresden. Further protests and possible clashes with police and far-right figures are expected in September.
