Defiant Afghan women protest Taliban gender restriction and all-male government
On September 8, these brave Afghan women stood up to the notoriously repressive Taliban regime now in charge of the war-torn country by holding a defiant rally in Kabul to demand equal rights and representation.
The Taliban government has come under criticism for introducing an all-male government, which has infuriated these women.
Diba Farahmand, speaking Persian, spoke out about the need to protest.
"We are not the women of yesterday, we want our rights, we stand together despite the violence yesterday. The women say they were allowed to march, but were still prevented from protesting. Without their presence of women, the cabinet will not be complete and this should be reconsidered," Diba told sources.
