A snow leopard was spotted for the first time ever in Dorbod Banner, northern China.

Video filmed in Inner Mongolia on September 5 shows a snow leopard roaming around grassland before being caught by officials.

Since snow leopards can be aggressive toward humans and livestock, the professional veterinarian and rescuers from Ordos wildlife rescue station anesthetised the animal first before rescuing it.

After giving a basic check to the snow leopard, it was transported to the wildlife rescue station in Ordos City.

According to a farmer named Xie Wenliang who spotted the wild snow leopard on his way back home, he has lived there for 60 years but he has never seen one before.

There are an estimated 4,080-6,590 snow leopards in the wild and they are listed as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

2021年9月5日17时许，乌兰察布四子王旗巴音敖包苏木牧民谢文亮在回家时，发现路边有一只灰白色豹类的动物，称自己生活60年从来没见过这种动物，后立即向旗公安局报警。
后经多方核实，确定该动物为国家一级保护动物、国际濒危动物“雪豹”。
据乌兰察布市野生动植物和湿地保护站站长卢化文介绍：“这是第一次在四子王旗发现雪豹，初步判定是从中蒙边境过来的。发现时，雪豹无明显外伤”。

考虑到当时天色变暗、野生雪豹对人和牲畜具有攻击性，工作人员对雪豹连夜进行现场守护。
在接到报告后，内蒙古自治区林草局紧急制定救助方案，指派鄂尔多斯市野生动物救助站专业兽医、救护人员赶赴现场实施救助。9月6日，鄂尔多斯市野生动物救助站工作人员赶到现场，考虑到现场救治条件有限，便使用麻醉剂对雪豹进行麻醉，在捕捉完成后开展营养救护。

工作人员现场确认该雪豹没有受伤，在基本检查、补充液体后将它转运至鄂尔多斯市野生动物救助站。
截止9月7日早晨，雪豹状态良好，但还没有主动进食，需要实施进一步观察和分析，随时根据情况开展后续救助工作。
据内蒙古自治区林草局湿地和野生动植物保护管理处四级调研员田建勇介绍，相关部门将对雪豹进行全面体检，并组织专家根据其体质恢复状态进行野外放归评估，达到放归标准后选择合适的环境进行野外放归。
