Khanyisa is an orphaned albino elephant rescued in January 2020 from a poacher’s snare. She came to Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) and went through three months of rehabilitation for the horrific wounds caused by the snare.

When Khanyisa began being integrated into the Jabulani herd, she was introduced to Lundi, who would be her new mother. Despite not being blood-related, Lundi cares for Khanyisa as if she were her own.
