Cape Town sex workers were led in a march by the Sex Workers Education & Advocacy Task force (SWEAT), an NGO that advocates for sex worker’s rights, in a march from Mowbray police station to the Blackpool Sports Complex in Observatory.

The sex workers handed over a memorandum of grievances to the police who they accuse of harassment, victimisation and assault. SWEAT advocates and calls for the legalisation of all sex work.

The Blackpool Sports Complex is a Covid 19 vaccination site. The sex workers marched to the vaccination site in order to get vaccinated.

Portia Tyembile a 38 year old sex worker said she chose to be vaccinated in order to protect herself and her clients. She said the coronavirus lockdown had severely affected her income as well as the income of brothel workers.
