Orphaned albino elephant, Khanyisa, relaxing under her adoptive mother, Lundi Khanyisa is an orphaned albino elephant rescued in January 2020 from a poacher’s snare. She came to Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) and went through three months of rehabilitation for the horrific wounds caused by the snare.
Khanyisa's dedicated carers are an integral part of her rehabilitation and journey and she has formed very close bonds with these phenomenal people.
