A major tragedy was averted on September 13 as six Chinese grenades placed in a sandbag were recovered by the troopers of 73 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir. They were discovered on a road divider on the National Highway- 44 (NH44) in Bemina.

Visuals feature the grenades buried in a sandbag and placed amidst a divider. A layer of sand is removed from its top. The grenades are barely visible, however, the CRPF keep a close look at those while passers-by commute, unbothered.

The troops were on a routine road opening exercise when the incident unfolded. They were not disposed of on-site due to heavy rush on the highway. Subsequently, they were handed over to the CRPF Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDD) squad and state police, following all the mandatory protocols.
