Chinese man carves traditional story into leaf ahead of Mid-Autumn Festival
A man carved a traditional story into a tree leaf to welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival in eastern China.
Footage filmed in the city of Jining in Shandong Province on September 17 shows a man named Kong carving the "Chang'e Flying to the Moon" story into a leaf.
Kong said it is hard to carve patterns into leaves as they are fragile. So he has to be very careful when making every cut on the leaves.
Kong used to do stone carving and he has already 17 years of experience in leaf carving.
Chang'e is a moon goddess in Chinese legend and a central character in the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size on that day. Lanterns are carried and displayed and a pastry called mooncakes are traditionally eaten during this festival.
