Herd of thirsty elephants stray towards river in eastern India
A herd of elephants approached a river to quench their thirst in eastern India's West Bengal on September 17. The incident took place in Jhargram.
Visuals feature the herd straying from the forest cover towards the river. They follow one another's lead and walk at their own pace. Later, they reach the water body and begin drinking from it. Meanwhile, a group of curious onlookers beholds the experience from a safe distance.
Elephants in the region are known for straying off their corridors to look for subsistence. They often emerge near civilization, making the locals familiar with such incidents.
