Cape Town law enforcement officers embarked on an early morning operation to confiscate the goods and destroy the makeshift shelter of homeless people living close to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

A few homeless people complained that law enforcement officers not only destroyed their makeshift shelters but also confiscated their clothes and identity documents.

Jared Sachs, a monitor for the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), was called out to the scene and alleged the City had contravened several laws as well as the constitution.
