Hungry elephant strays towards road in Sri Lanka
A starving elephant took to the road to look for food in Sri Lanka's Southern Province on September 15. The incident took place in Talapatkanda.
Visuals feature the jumbo emerging from the forest cover. It slowly tours the sidelines of the road while looking for something to munch on. Later, it strolls at its own pace and continues its quest while the onlookers slow down their vehicles to safely pass by.
The elephants in the region are known for straying off their corridors to look for subsistence. They often appear on the roads, making the locals familiar with such incidents.
