Night volcanic eruption on the island La Palma, Spain
This footage was filmed and produced 20 September 2021.
On Sunday afternoon, the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge erupted on La Palma in the municipality of El Paso. The National Geographic Institute of Spain recorded an increase in seismic activity there; more than 25 thousand earthquakes occurred in a week. According to volcanologists, such a dangerous phenomenon was last observed in 2019.
The video shows a bright volcanic eruption on the night of September 20. People have come out of their homes and are watching.
