The carcass of a whale suspected to have been run over by a ship has washed up on a beach in Vasai-Virar, Maharashtra.

A dead baleen whale washed up on a beach in western India's Maharashtra on September 21. The incident took place on the Mardes beach, located in Vasai in the Palghar district.

Visuals feature the enormous carcass lying on the shore. Gripped with curiosity, several locals gather on the sand-laden ground around the deceased whale to behold the experience. The umbrella-clad onlookers stand in proximity to the aquatic being while it lays lifelessly on the beach.

A group of fishermen spotted the 35-feet-long carcass weighing over 30 tonnes and alerted the forest department. Following this, the officials arrived at the spot and sent the tissues of the baleen whale for further medical examination. However, the experts suspect that a vessel hit the mammal. Furthermore, they buried the carcass on the beach.
