Street Food: Incredible looking Thai dish of mango and rainbow sticky rice
Footage shows fresh mango and rainbow sticky rice covered with hot coconut milk being made at a street food stall in Bangkok, Thailand.
The popular dish has been adapted by the street vendor by adding bright colourings to the rich sticky rice so it resembles an attractive rainbow.
Mango sticky rice is a traditional Thai dessert made from ripe yellow mangoes with sweetened sticky rice and coconut milk.
The dessert is usually eaten during the peak of the Mango season in summer. In Southeast Asia, the dish is eaten with a spoon or hands.
The main ingredients are ripe mangos, sticky rice, coconut milk, and palm sugar. It is simply prepared by steaming the sticky rice and warming the coconut milk with salt and sugar before putting the sliced mango on the plate.
At the Shor Sornkaew shop seen in the video, the sticky rice is made into beautiful rainbow balls with food colouring and covered with warm coconut milk. The shop is open from 6 AM to 8 PM every day.
