A jilted boyfriend clung onto his ex’s car roof as she tried to flee from him.

The heartbroken man chased his ex-lover after she broke up with him in Pathum Thani province on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand on September 21 evening.

He then prevented her from fleeing after the heated argument by jumping onto the roof of her car while pleading for forgiveness as she drove along a road for 30 minutes.

Footage shows the ex-boyfriend balancing on top of a white sedan while banging on the roof with his hand whenever the car stopped for a red light.

Motorist Chanisa Ritbunraeng, who was driving behind the emotional man, said she did not notice them right away until she heard people shouting outside.

She said: ‘I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I turned right and saw the man shouting on top of the car. The driver obviously knew there was a person on top but she kept going.’

Chanisa added that the man could be heard desperately asked for forgiveness from the girl inside the car for about 15 minutes.

She said: ‘The man was telling the girl he won’t repeat the same mistakes again and repeatedly apologised. I was behind them for almost 15 minutes but I think they had been there for half an hour.’

The man only left her alone when the car crashed upon turning into an alley. No one was reported hurt from the incident including the man on the roof.

Police investigated and found that the man was a security guard working at a department store in the area and climbed up the vehicle after his girlfriend broke up with him.

The pair were fine and did not damage other property aside from the woman’s car. No complaints on the incident have been lodged so far and officers are said to have dismissed it as a personal problem between the couple.
