The Jabulani herd of elephants consists predominantly of orphaned and rescued elephants who spend their days out in the wilderness with their carers. This unique herd adopts orphans that are not related by blood and accepts them as family.

Khanyisa, an orphaned albino elephant was rescued from a poacher's snare in January 2020 by HERD, the first elephant orphanage located in South Africa.

After three months of rehabilitation from horrific wounds caused by the snare, Khanyisa has been integrated into the Jabulani herd and now spends her days out in the wild with them.

Tokwe is the matriarch of this special herd and can be seen in this video enjoying eating a branch.
