London motorists form long queue for petrol after dark amid panic buying
Motorists on the A2043 in New Malden, southwest London, formed a lengthy queue at a BP petrol station on Friday evening (September 24) after fears of a fuel shortage sparked panic buying across Britain.
Staff were seen instructing drivers to join the back of the queue which was forming on the busy road.
The government has urged people to "carry on as normal" and not panic buy as ministers consider their next steps to resolve the current HGV driver shortage, which has been partially blamed for supply issues at some stations.
