Translation of video fragments:
[0:20-1:02]
– Today we are joining the global strike for Climate Justice. The narrative of this mobilization is that we want to Uproot the system, this means that we want reparations for the historic damages and the ecocides that have affected mostly the global south, which is the people and the place more vulnerable to climate change. As part of Mexico, we want the fossil companies to be regulated that are abusing our resources and ignoring the regulations that already exist. That is why we say, Mexico Pemex does not love you.
[1:03-1:21]
– What do we want?
– Climate Justice!
– And when do we want it?
– Now!
– We want the future, not hydrocarbons!
[1:22-1:30]
– We are Fridays for future Mexico or Viernes por el future.
[1:31-1:49]
– What do we want?
– Climate Justice!
–And when do we want it?
– Now!
– We want the future, not hydrocarbons!
[1:50-3:06]
– Today Fridays for future Mexico is participating in the global strike of September 24 for the climate emergency. We are Fridays for future Mexico, and in Spanish is Viernes por el future. (The emergency) keeps investing in fossil fuels, in oil, refineries, and now in fracking, which was a campaign initiative of his campaign. He said that he was going to stop it, that there was going to stop in these initiatives. However, the budget for fracking has grown. And well, we are demanding to start the change and to give resources for what Mexico has assumed to do in the Paris Agreement.
[3:06-4:25]
– My name is Maria Reyes, and I'm an activist of Fridays for future Mexico. Today it's the global strike for the future, for the climate. And we went out to the streets to manifest ourselves starting a campaign to tell the people “Realize Pemex does not love you”. Mexico is one of the countries that are more affected by the climate crisis in Latin America. We have droughts, we have floods, we have failed harvests, and meanwhile, the government of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador keeps on financing the fossil fuel industry. This industry is responsible for this climate crisis. The president says “Poor people first”, but we the poor are the most affected by this climate crisis that his government is financing. Today we are demanding coherence, if there is no coherence we want education, otherwise let's put someone instead who knows what to do. The government signed the Paris Agreement, and Pemex as a government company must comply with this. We are asking for an immediate reduction of Pemex emissions, we are asking to diminish immediately the financing of fossil fuels.
[5:19-5:42]
– Mexico, realize: Pemex does not love you!
– Mexico, realize: Pemex does not love you!
– Mexico, realize: Pemex does not love you!
– Mexico, realize: Pemex does not love you!
