Otomí community occupies the Instituto Nacional de Poblaciones Indigenas (National Institute of Indigenous Peoples) to demand Democracy, Freedom and Justice among other demands.

Translation of the interview with women from Otomi community:
[00:01-5:18] Starts speaking in Spanish in 1’9’’:
– Well, we take the INPI on October the 12th because the government was not listening. Our parents, we were kids back then, since 20 years ago were demanding a place to live. Even today we don’t have it. We grow up, and now we are demanding that. We, the Otomi community on October the 12 occupy the INPI because we said enough. It is time for the government to realize that we do exist here in the city of Mexico. They said they were with us, but they were not. When we came here and we occupied this building, we said we never saw any help. So we decide as a community to occupy the INPI. We demanded a good place to live, health, education, culture, work because the government acts so simple, they give you something to eat and then they say stay put. As women, since we take this place, we decided to be in front as women, and say to the government that we can. In the beginning, the government send the Federal Police but we decided to not fall into their provocation. We send a calling to Claudia Sheinbaum (the Government Chief of the City of Mexico) and Adolfo Regino (INPI Director) inviting them to talk, and they came, but never send an answer. That never happen till today. The last time we spoke with them was December 15th and then they left the negotiations. Then the quarantine got worst, and till now we haven’t heard anything from the government. We haven’t heard anything else about the expropriations of the lands we are demanding. There were places like Roma 18 and Londres 7, we were there living, and we were promised that in august the expropriation Roma 18 and Londres 7, but till today we don’t know anything.
[5:21-7:11]
– We wanted to add, that, we are part of the CNI (Indigenous National Congress), and that two of our comrades united the Zapatist trip to Europe. They left on Tuesday.
(Another girl):
– The comrades that went were our councilor Marisela Mejia and the Delegate Isabel. From here we want to show our support. They went to express themselves and pick up the voice of all the people.
– “Zapata lives, the struggle remains!” “Zapata lives, the struggle remains!”
– Give me an O, give me a T, give me an O, give me an M, give me an I.
– What are we?
– Otomi!
– Louder!
– Otomi!
– I can’t hear you!
– Otomi!
– Three times!
– Otomi, Otomi, Otomi!
– We have owned the INPI
– Otomi, Otomi, Otomi!
– We have owned the INPI, and from here we won’t go
– Samir lives, The struggle remains. Samir lives, The struggle remains.
– Jamodi! (thanks in Otomi)
