This is the terrifying moment a landslide crashed into a home in rural Thailand after heavy rain.

Footage shows how the soil eroded and started sliding towards a household in Ban Kok Thong, Muang District in Loei province following a downpour that had loosened the ground.

Khamphan Lunaha, a 59-year-old stroke patient who owned the house, said his grandchild ran out to take a video of the landslide after hearing a loud noise outside.

The family’s kitchen was destroyed, as well as a storage shed next to the house. No one was reported hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, more than 15 homes on the edge of the nearby Huai Nam Man lake were also damaged due to floods and flooding caused by the rain.

Muang Loei District Chief Kittikhun Butkun has warned residents to move to higher ground due to the threat of flash floods.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
