Former Cape Town mayor, Patricia De Lille, says the Democratic Alliance run city cancelled all her inner city housing plans after she resigned .

De Lille formerly served as Cape Town mayor for the Democratic Alliance. She resigned from the party in 2018. De Lille claims the party wanted her removed when she started setting aside city owned land for social housing in the CBD.

Ahead of the 2019 national elections De Lille formed the GOOD Party with Brett Herron as her Secretary-General. Herron who served on De Lille’s mayoral committee resigned shortly after she did. Herron is now the party’s Cape Town mayoral candidate for the 2021 local government elections.

De Lille spoke at a media briefing where she provided details of potential sites for affordable housing in the CBD owned by the City. She provided evidence of 450 potential housing sites in and around the city.
