An albino barking deer was born at a Thai zoo.

The healthy white male cub was born from father Chokchai and mother Mali – both albino deer – in Khon Kaen Zoo on September 23.

Footage shows the fawn with his parents while they fed on vegetables in their enclosure.

Delighted zoo director Narongwit Chodchoi said: ‘They look like normal deer, but they are white. We were excited when the newest member was born.’

The white baby deer was being watched closely by a team of veterinarians to ensure that he would grow up healthy with his parents.

The zoo is currently open to accepting visitors, but strict health protocols have to be followed while inside such as wearing face masks and sanitizing of hands.

Barking deer or rib-faced deer, also known as Muntjacs, are small deer species native to South and Southeast Asia.
