Villagers fished in a flooded railway underpass in Thailand.

Footage shows a man casting a fishing net into the rainwater-filled depression near the Bua Yai railway line in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Hours of heavy rain brought by Tropical Storm Dianmu had turned the underpass into a makeshift fishing pool for locals in the northeastern Thai province while rendering the road temporarily impassable.

Authorities have banned fishing and passing through the area for fear of electrocution but they said the water is likely to recede within one to two days once the rain stops.

At least 10 provinces in Thailand, including Chaiyaphum, have been inundated by Dianmu, according to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department of Thailand. The Thai Meteorological Department said rainfall is expected to subside within the week.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
