This is the bizarre moment dried grass wriggled like a worm after being sprinkled with water.

The desert grass, which locals call ‘the Buddha’s hair’ or ‘Adam’s beard’ in certain parts of Asia, was found being sold at a flea market in Songkhla province, Thailand.

Vendors recommend drinking the grass as a tea with honey as it is believed to have medicinal properties, particularly for improving male sexual performance.

Footage shows the strands starting to writhe like they were returning from the dead after being in contact with a few drops of water on September 28.

Vendor Wikun Petsong, 60, said: ‘These grasses used to be common around the sea. But now, they are quite rare and only a few are left.

‘Mostly, male customers buy it from us to enhance their love lives but it could also be used to relieve muscle and joint pains. It’s very effective.’

Each bag of the grass is sold at 200 baht.
