Creation Wines, a 60 hectare size vineyard in the Hemel en Aarde region of the Southern Cape in South Africa has been named the best vineyard in Africa. The World’s Best Vineyards is an annual award for trailblazers in the wine tourism industry.

Sebastian Messerschmidt, the Consul-General for the Netherlands, said if we look at the world today during the time of Covid pandemic, we need signs of hope for the recovery of the global economy. Messerchmidt believes the fact that Creation Wines has been recognised as the best in Africa will attract tourism and jobs.

The award was handed to Creation Wines founder and marketing director, Carolyn Martin, by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, at the Premier’s official residence, Leeuwenhof. Winde said it’s exciting that a relatively new vineyard has become the best vineyard in Africa.

Carolyn Martin, founder of Creation Wines, says before the Covid pandemic hit, they attracted 60 000 visitors per year. The vineyard is well known for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir range.
