Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused trees to fall onto a city street, striking a minivan in south Indonesia today (29th September)

The incident took place in Serua, Ciputat district, South Tangerang, afternoon, as footage shows traffic halted by a fallen tree which wrecked a nearby vehicle.

The driver Deden, 25, was about to visit his cousin in hospital when his vehicle was suddenly struck by the falling tree.

The car's roof was badly damaged and all the glass was broken. Luckily, Deden only suffered minor injuries to his head and neck and left back shoulder. His wife, also riding in the car, survived but was shocked.

The local community and other drivers quickly ran to help get the couple out of their car and later to move the tree out of road.

After the tree was removed, the victim's car was pushed aside into a nearby schoolyard.
