Britain's youngest house music DJ is already wowing crowds and has won legions of fans including BBC Radio 1 star Annie Mac and DJ Sam Divine - AGED 11.

Liv Averill performs banging sets to hundreds of party-goers despite being too young to go clubbing and needing steps to see over her turntables in the DJ booth.

The talented schoolgirl - aka DJ Liv - has racked up an army of followers after she learnt how to mix dance tunes at home during lockdown last April.

Proud dad Mark, 36, began uploading videos to social media of Liv spinning tracks on the decks and they soon racked up tens of thousands of views.

The footage drew plaudits such as Annie Mac who complimented her “excellent skills” while Sam Divine told her she had the "gift of DJing."

The exposure soon led to a number of bookings and Liv has performed to up to 500 people at pubs, street food festivals and birthday parties since the age of 10.

The Year 7 pupil now spends hours regularly practicing in the spare room twice a week after school as she hones her talents on the wheels of steel.

Liv started DJing when Mark - who used to mix music in his teens - bought himself some decks during lockdown before Liv decided to have a go herself.

Mark said: “I just let Liv have a quick go and it turned out she could do it. I couldn't quite believe it.

“I started her off on auto-mode then took all that stuff off so she had to manually beat match and she took to it like a duck to water.

“It was like a hidden talent. It was an odd one, I just chucked her on these decks and it turned out she could use them. I thought ‘oh my God? What is this?’

“We got her to do a few Facebook Lives in lockdown and some of them went quite viral with thousands of views.

“And then the TikTok video when she did her first gig had 50,000 views.

“Sam Divine [a DJ from Defected Records] saw her on Instagram, started following her and messaged her to say she’s got the gift of DJing.

"It was a very proud dad moment."

Videographer Mark, of Stenson, Derbys., said people have been left “gobsmacked” when they see Liv perform at live events.

He added: “People have been walking past the DJ console and asking ‘how is she doing that?’

"She basically has to stand on steps to reach. Other DJs say for an 11-year-old to be doing that is some doing because it takes so much concentration.

“Every four or five minutes she has got to mix the next track in and does that for two hours but she doesn’t waver whatsoever.

“It doesn’t faze her at all. There were 500 people at one of her gigs but she didn’t even get nervous and cracked on with it.

“I have always said to her she’s got to go to school to get Maths and English, but that there’s no reason she can’t then do it for a career because I do something I love for a living.

“Her aspiration is to get famous DJing then become a part-time actress while DJing around the world and on beaches.

“Maybe Ibiza next summer and I’ll go along and carry her bags."

This compilation was created on the 30th September 2021.
