31-year-old battling face tumor gets successfully treated in southern India

A 31-year-old man, identified as Manbodh Bagh, successfully got treated for a face tumor he developed as a child in southern India's Karnataka on November 29, 2020. The incident took place at the Aster CMI Hospital, located in Bangalore.

Visuals feature Manbodh and the tumor that has been troubling him since he was a child. The bulky mass droops from the side of his face while Manbodh silently endures it. Later, the medical experts who performed the surgery reveal the details of the case.

Hailing from the remote village of Titilagarh, Odisha, Bagh was diagnosed with a rare disease called plexiform neurofibroma. However, after undergoing unsuccessful debulking surgeries, Manbodh's tumor was deemed inoperable, crushing his life-long dream of leading an ordinary life.

But, after facing several medical dead-ends for almost 17 years, a ray of hope finally shone upon his life as he was brought to Aster CMI, Bangalore. He underwent 16 surgeries, including neurosurgery, plastic surgery, oncology, ENT, neuro-anaesthesia, and ophthalmology, over six months to get rid of the tumor. Moreover, Manbodh received aid from Milaap, a crowdfunding organization that facilitated his surgery, and is now having a healthy recovery.
