A brahminy kite was spotted watching over an unattended nest of goose eggs in Bukittinggi, Indonesia.

Footage from September 20 shows the bird of prey carefully standing over the eggs.

The mother goose then returns to her nest and wards off the kite before inspecting her eggs.

Nova, the owner of the animals, said the kites always guard the goose eggs when the geese leave.

"I was scratched by a kite when I took a goose egg. He was angry with anyone who approached the goose egg," Nova said.

According to Nova, herds of wild monkeys also often target goose eggs, but the eggs are safe because they are guarded by the birds of prey.
