Dozens of tourists plunged into a river as a suspension bridge broke in central China.

Video filmed in Zhongmu County in Henan Province on October 1 shows the tourists falling into the river that was more than 1.5-metres-deep.

According to reports, the chain on one side of the bridge broke causing it to turn to one side sending over a dozen of tourists into the water.

The scenic area staff and kind-hearted tourists help the people in the water get to shore safely.

No casualties were reported. The scenic area has been closed for internal rectification.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
