Plane survives mid-air collision with Helicopter. Helicopter did not.
A small air plane and a helicopter crash in mid-air. It appears that the helicopter, while acending, skimmed the fixed wing aircraft. The helicopter blades broke off and ended up just outside of the airpark in a fireball. The two passengers did not survive due to the intense fire. Police were the first on scene, and they did not have any recourse to save the passengers but fire extinguishers. The plane's landing gear was damaged in the collision but was able to land safely on the air strip. There were no reported injuries to the planes passengers. This occurred in the morning at Chandler Airport, a small airport serving mostly the private sector.
