Rome's iconic Ponte di Ferro bridge goes up in flames
Rome’s Ponte di Ferro was partially destroyed in a massive fire on Saturday night.
The iconic 158-year-old metal bridge went up in flames just before midnight leading to external sections of the structure to collapse into the river Tiber.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire which may have originated from makeshift shacks under the bridge and involved electric and gas pipelines.
The blaze might create traffic chaos in Rome according to officials.
