Oceanographic researcher of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Wulan Koagouw and several other researchers found a number of high concentrations of paracetamol in two Jakarta waters, namely Ancol and Angke. In a study entitled 'High Concentration of Paracetamol in the Jakarta Bay Waters Region, Indonesia' found paracetamol content of 420 nanograms per liter in Ancol. In Angke, the paracetamol content even reaches 610 nanograms per liter. The study stated that the paracetamol content was higher than records ever released by other studies. This pollution raises concerns regarding the health and cleanliness of marine ecosystems, especially the impact on the fish consumed by the community.
