A wild pig was rescued from a 40-foot-deep well after officials lowered down ropes into the pit in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on September 26.

The rescue team judged it was dangerous to climb down into the well as the trapped animal was running around frantically.

They decided to lower down a bunch of ropes to snare the wild pig. After two hours they managed to capture the animal, it was then brought back to the surface.

Maheshbhai, leader of the rescue team, said: “Snaring an agitated pig from atop the well was fine in theory but tested our patience in practice. But luckily, the pig wore out and stopped moving, making it a bit easier to catch it.”

The animal was later released.
