South Africa's largest metal and engineering union goes on strike
NUMSA (National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa) embarked on a nationwide strike in the metal and engineering sectors. The union is demanding a 15% increase but have since lowered their demands to 8% Employers are only offering a 4.4% increase on the minimum wage only. Workers in the Western Cape gathered at the Bellville South Community Hall to protest.
