Hundreds of lanterns were released at Rise Festival in Nevada, US, seeing the sky transform into an astral nightscape.

Footage filmed by Jennifer Schaffer features her releasing a sky lantern, which goes on to join several others like it.

"This video was taken at Rise Festival 2021, an event where every individual gets to launch two sky lanterns," the filmer shared.

"I used one of my lanterns to say goodbye to my dad who passed away earlier this year, and added notes for other loved ones who passed away."

She added: "I used the second lantern to write my hopes and dreams for the future. It’s such a beautiful event and I highly recommend it to people of all ages."
