A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook the Tokyo area late Thursday, October 7, injuring more than 20 people.

The quake occurred at 10:41 p.m. with the epicenter in northwestern Chiba Prefecture, directly east of capital Tokyo.

The Japan Meteorological Agency initially reported the magnitude of the quake was 6.1 but revised it early Friday.
