Rally held against court decision to allow Jewish prayers at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque

A demonstration was held in the courtyard of Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque on Saturday 9 October, against an Israeli court decision earlier in the week allowing Jews to pray at the site.

That decision on Tuesday 5 October, to allow "silent prayers" by Jewish settlers, was struck down by another court on Friday, but not before sparking fury amongst Palestinians and the Muslim world.

The Tuesday ruling effectively ended an agreement in which Muslims worship at the mosque while Jews worship at the Western Wall nearby. But Israeli police appealed against that verdict and won, reinstating the ban on Jewish rituals in Al-Aqsa, Islam’s third holiest site.
