There were scuffles with police as 2,000 pro-squat demonstrators marched through the streets of Berlin late on Saturday 9 October.

The date marked the first anniversary of the eviction of the Liebig 34 anarchist squat in the Friedrichshain district of the city.

Police flanked the march in high numbers to prevent trouble from breaking out from the route.

This demo comes just a week before the city's 'Kopi' squat is due to be evicted.

As the demo reached the Kopi squat, police carried out arrests, leading to bottles and fireworks being thrown at officers.
