Location: Kanniyakumari district of Tamilnadu State in South India.

The sale of ambergris, a waxy substance secreted by sperm whale found floating in sea or washed ashore and used to make perfume and medicines, is banned in India.

Police department got a secret information regarding the sale of the ambergris illegally. They went to the spot immediately and found a car that was parked outside a house and started questing them.

Then the initial investigations revealed that they were about to sell something illegally and hence police arrested them and confiscated the ambergris worth rs 5 crores and the car. 5 people were arrested.

Forest department officials was informed and they seized the ambergris. This was the first of kind incident happened in Kanniyakumari district says police sources
