South Africa's Cape Town Cycle Tour led the way to the 'new normal' on Sunday 10 October, with its first race since pandemic lockdowns began.

It saw 18,000 cyclists circumnavigate the Cape Peninsula in the race, its 43rd.

Local rider Nolan Hoffman won his fourth title in 2 hours, 37 minutes, while Kim Le Court De Billot took the women's title.

Professionals and amateurs appreciated the fact that the race was happening after an eight-month delay due to Covid-19 lockdowns.

The race is the first major participation event hosted in Cape Town since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cyclists expressed their happiness, while the Premiere of the Western Cape Allan Winde, an avid cyclist himself, referred to the event as leading the way to the new normal.
