A driverless car narrowly missed a woman and a kitten standing outside a jewellery store in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Shangrao in Jiangxi Province on October 8 shows a woman sweeping the floor outside a jewellery shop and a kitten playing when a black car suddenly crashed onto the pavement.

The kitten and the woman were seen running away quickly to avoid being hit by the vehicle.

The car then bumped into the wall of the jewellery shop.

According to reports, the motorist was not in the car. After a while, he came to the site with his breakfast.

The man said he parked his car on the roadside and went to get some breakfast on the opposite side of the road.

The man forgot to pull the handbrake causing the incident.

Fortunately, only the shop was damaged, no one was injured.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
