A group of tourists were seen sitting dangerously close to the edge of a steep cliff while taking in the sights at Tintagel castle in Cornwall yesterday (10 October).

While visitors and locals alike are always searching for the best spot to enjoy a stunning view, this bunch might have taken things slightly too far – by dangling their legs over the drop and even jogging next to the edge.

A stunned onlooker filmed the group as they perched atop the cliff, seemingly not bothered about the waves and jagged rocks below.

As if the seated position wasn’t perilous enough, at one point one of the tourists stands up and jogs for a few moments.

In November 2020, Laurentiu-Ionut Nitu died at the age of 35 after falling from a cliff in the same area.

He had been fishing at Tintagel when he fell and he died four days later due to his injuries.

The Coroner said his cause of death was aspiration pneumonia and hypoxic brain injury due to drowning.

He said: “He's ended up in the water either by being washed off the rocks by a wave or by slipping and falling in. Once in the water it's not been possible to retrieve him.

“Sadly by the time the emergency services have arrived on the scene he's faced down, taken to Treliske and sadly does not recover and dies in the hospital.

"I'm going to record a conclusion of an accidental death and that will bring us to the end of the formal inquest process."
