A mother dog was captured dragging its trapped puppy by its tail out of a storm drain in Tamil Nadu, southern India.

The heroic rescue was filmed on October 12 in Ariyalur by Balaji, a journalist who happened to be passing at the time.

He stopped and started recording as he spotted the mother dog attempting to rescue her pup from the ditch.

After several failed attempts, the mother grabs the pup by the tail and managed to climb out of the deep ditch at the abandoned construction site.

The dog is then seen placing her puppy near a resting cow while her other pup follows closely behind.

Location - Ariyalur District of Tamilnadu state in South India.

A canal was dug for the construction of storm drain. Mama dog and it's puppies crossed the canal to go to the other side as it resides on the other side.

Unfortunately one puppy cannot climb up from the canal. It tried many times but failed. So the puppy started barking for help.

Mama dog came to its rescue. It climbed down inside the canal and it held the puppy’s tail through its mouth firmly and lifted the puppy up from the canal.

It carried the puppy to a safer location and there it left the puppy down.

It was shot by Balaji. He is a journalist. He just stopped his two wheeler to capture this puppy as it was trying to climb up. But suddenly Mama dog came and helped the puppy and held it with its mouth and lifted the puppy up.

It was a construction site and it was abandoned for a few days due to rains. This mama dog gave birth to its puppies and one of its puppies fell inside as they were playing over there.

"Mama heard the cries of the puppy and came to rescue it. No other dog oher than mama will do the rescue. Mama dog won't allow other dogs to go near the puppy". said by the villagers.

Then the dog changed the place to somewhere else as it felt this place was not a safe place to live for its puppies.
