Every year people across the country celebrate Dussehra or Vijayadashmi festival. The underlying message on this day is the victory of truth over evil, and to celebrate that, the effigy of the 10-headed Ravana is burnt.
This year Ravana effigy makers are facing a financial crisis as people are less interested in buying effigies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Newsflare, Ganpat, an effigy maker said, "I have been making Ravana effigies for many years and used to sell above 100 effigies every year. But this time, I have prepared some effigies due to COVID-19 pandemic and inflation."
He further said that the cost of making these effigies have been increased due to inflation, but customers are demanding these statues at older prices only. People are not interested in buying effigies.
Angadram Ajmera, An councilor of Beawar Municipal Council said, 'Demon king Ravana will burn in the colony area to keep the mythological tradition alive.'
