A physically challenged woman from Jessore, Bangladesh is now creating employment in Nakshi Kantha Bune area. Her cottage industry has been nominated for the Bangabandhu Cottage Industry Award this year. Anupama Mitra is one of the people who has introduced the traditional Nakshi Kantha woven by the women of Jessore. She became a successful entrepreneur with intelligence and hard work even though one of his legs became paralyzed when he contracted polio at the age of one. Anupama Mitra's brother Ranjit Kumar Mitra was the main inspiration behind her development. He has helped his disabled sister in many ways. Anupama Mitra and her brother trained the poor women of the village in handicrafts. Through this, more than 150 women entrepreneurs are working in Jessore at present.
