Firefighters freed a boy's foot that was stuck in an escalator in central China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Huangshi in Hubei Province on September 27 shows a 3-year-old boy getting his left foot stuck in an escalator.

Shoppers spotted the incident and stopped the escalator before the boy's mother ran to check on him.

After firefighters arrived, they used tools to tear down the panel slowly.

The boy was rescued after around five minutes. Firefighters then used a fire engine to send the boy to hospital for treatment.

The boy is having further treatment in hospital.

9月27日下午6时左右，在湖北黄石阳新县某商场内，一三岁左右的男童在乘坐自动扶梯时，不慎将左脚半边脚掌卷入电梯扶手边缘的缝隙里。发现这一情况后，商场负责人、围观市民和小孩母亲紧急关停了电梯，拨打了119报警。
消防人员到达现场发现，自动扶梯已采取紧急制动措施停下，一名三岁左右的男童趴在其母亲的腿上大声痛哭。男童的左脚半边脚掌和所穿的凉鞋被牢牢夹在了自动扶梯边缘缝隙里。
由于电梯内部结构复杂，也怕伤到孩子，消防人员只能小范围慢慢用破拆工具扩大缝隙。经过5分钟的营救，男童成功脱困。考虑到男童左脚脚趾可能有断裂，救护车尚未到达现场，消防人员立即抱起男童，迅速用消防车护送前往医院治疗。
据了解，当晚，男童被转至武汉地区医院，接受进一步治疗。（视频由湖北台提供）
