The effigy of the demon king Ravana burns on the occasion of the Dussehra Festival at the end of the Navratri Durga Puja Festival in Beawar, Rajasthan, northern India, October 15, 2021.
Dussehra or Vijayadashami celebrated this year with much fervour and zeal.
The Hindu festival is observed on Shukla Paksha Dashmi (tenth day) during the month of Ashwin as per Hindu lunar calendar and a day after Maha Navami or at the end of Shardiya Navratri.
The underlying message on this day is the victory of truth over evil, and to celebrate that, the effigy of the 10-headed Ravana is burnt.
