Two suspected rebels were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Pampore, a southern town of Indian administered Kashmir.

According to Newsflare's filmer, a local journalist, the gunfight started after scores of counterinsurgency troops raided a neighbourhood in Pampore. During the search, rebels began shooting, triggering gunfight. Two suspected rebels were killed, officials said.

Video shows Indian soldiers near the sight of the gunfight and a damaged house destroyed by security forces inside which the two rebels died.

According to the Times of India, Umar Mustaq Khandey, a commander in the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group, was one of those killed.

The Government's security forces have intensified operations since the killing of seven civilians by gunmen earlier this month. In recent days 13 suspected rebels and seven Indian soldiers have been killed in the Kashmir region.

Militants have been fighting against Indian rule in the region for decades.
