Claudine Coleridge, the Ward 26 candidate for the Cape Coloured Congress (CCC) in Leonsdale and Elsies River is determined to inspire the youth in her gang and crime ridden ward. Claudine grew up in the area and today still serves the community through a feeding scheme and other community projects.

When asked about the controversial statements of her party leader, Fadiel Adams, she stated the party represents all races and communities. Fadiel Adams stated on national TV that he wanted black people from the Eastern Cape to be sent back home. Coleridge believes despite this, the party can be a home for all South Africans.

Coleridge has committed to creating jobs in her ward and not just menial jobs. She wants to motivate youth to finish metric and become productive members of society.

Coleridge is pitted against incumbent DA (Democratic Alliance) councillor, Francesca Walker. The DA currently controls the Cape Town Metro. The CCC stunned the DA by coming second in a by-election in Delft in April. It was the first time the party contested an election and it grabbed 19% of the votes.
